Blast Theory

Blast Theory uses video and computers to question the ideologies propagated by the information surrounding us.

Blast Theory was founded in 1991 by a four artists, and friends, who worked at the same cinema. These theater artists perform in clubs, art galleries and in the streets in an effort to counterbalance a world that is bombarded by all sorts of media and which is dominated by pop culture.

Using video and computers to question the ideologies propagated by the information surrounding us, the artists want their work to be straightforward, accessible and meaningful. They believe in collectivity and openness of creativity, which is why they collaborate with a large number of people from the art world, from DJs to dancers, from designers to managing directors.

Blast Theory’s ideas are underlined by an educational program, which the collective developed to inspire others and provide them with sufficient baggage to produce interdisciplinary work.
