Barbara de Reede
I have been working as producer and marketing & pr manager for events and festivals for the past ten years. After travelling and working in set construction, I ended up in the south of Spain. I lived in Tarifa whilst working for Formula 1 events and in the automotive industry in Spain, France as well as the UK. In this vibrant, innovative and fast world, I met many creative minds and was involved in several impressive projects. It motivated me to develop me organizational and communicative skills and to see the value of building a strong network.
Back in Holland, now based in Rotterdam, I am inspired by creative and innovative organizations in culture, arts and media. With a personal love and interest for cultural events and film, I have worked for and with several different organizations over the last few years, taking new directions within producing and marketing for events and festivals.
The challenge of connecting people, ideas and experiences is what I enjoy most. Especially to connect people with different expertise and backgrounds who share the same interests but whose paths will not normally cross.
Introducing people to new ideas and different insights in my opinion is an excellent 'creative brain exercise,' it inspires and helps broaden horizons. Business and industry, innovative researchers and artists need to meet and interact more often, so that surprising partnerships can develop that will benefit all parties. DEAF2012 is a perfect example of a festival and platform where these connections are made.
