Birgit Richard is since 1998 Professor of New Media at the Goethe University of Frankfurt (Germany). Her fields of specialization include: new media, aesthetics of everyday life (contemporary youth cultures, fashion, design, pop culture), life and death in real and virtual environments. She is editor of the Kunstforum International Volumes of Fashion, Time and Images of Violence, and founder of the Youth Culture Archive, a collection of objects from contemporary youth cultures. Her current research focuses on the representation of women in computer games.
