Christina Kubisch is part of the first generation of sound artists. Her work consists of sound installations, sound sculptures and works with ultraviolet light. Her installations are based on electro-magnetic sound transmission. The electro-magnetic sound transmission consists of a series of cables, installed in an indoor or outdoor situation, where sound transmissions are amplified, forming a loop. Wearing a wireless headphone with an adjustable range control, the listener can walk around the place freely, receiving the sounds via the built-in electro-magnets. The sound then responds to movement or non-movement by the listener.

She has a degree in painting, music and electronics from the Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Music in Hamburg, the Jazz Academy of Graz in Austria and the Technical Institute of Milan. She has received numerous grants and awards, had many solo exhibitions and participated in several group exhibitions worldwide. She has been Professor of Sculpture and Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken since 1994.
