David Stolarsky

David Stolarsky (US) works at the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

David was born in Urbana, Illinois, USA -- an oasis of computer invention, amid a sea of farmland, where HAL 9000 was also born. For 22 years he lived in the city, eating computers for breakfast, Legos for lunch, Adobe for dinner, and Taco Bell during late-night hunger crises. In 2008, he moved to Linz, Austria to take a job at Ars Electronica and experience a new life in the Old World, only to discover upon arriving that it wasn't so different from Urbana: people worked and played and dreamed all the same.  Yet over his year in Linz, the people and landscape proved subtly different, and they made him a little more free.  David could be considered a whipper-snapper.
