Hans Ulrich Reck has been professor of art history in a media context since 1995. He studied philosophy, art history, literature studies and communication. From 1992 to 1995 he held the chair and was professor of communication theory at the Academy of Applied Art in Vienna, prior to which he was a lecturer in Basle and Zurich. He has been the producer and chairman of numerous symposia. He has also published numerous essays and books, as author, editor and co-editor.
