Jacques van de Veerdonk explores music and the creative process.
Jacques studied composition with Klaas de Vries and instrumentation with Robin Raaff. He teaches theory of music, choir, ensembles, and new media at Codarts, the University for the Arts Rotterdam, and the Conservatory. He also teaches preparatory classes for young musical talents at Havo Muziek en Dans, and developed a course of "live composing" for amateurs.
He composes for ensemble, theater, dance film and educational music; in 2009 he wrote a composition for clarinet and computer for Lars Wouters.
In 2004, he started working on a sound and film music educational course. He wrote film scenarios
and produced several short movies, some in the context of the IFFR (International Film Festival Rotterdam). At the same time, he started collaborating with art
academies and conservatories in the Netherlands and abroad.
Watch That Sound started as an educational projects in 2003. Developed with the V2_Lab, it is a software tool for the educational sound project. The aim of the Watch That Sound project is to introduce young people to the world of music, sound effects, and film. The aim of the open source software tool is to explore the children’s creativity making the Watch That Sound concept accessible for anyone anywhere.
