Lauran Schijvens (NL) is an artist-designer.

Lauran Schijvens is a Rotterdam-based designer and artist. As an artist Lauran Schijvens mainly develops interactive multi-media installations and collaborates with fellow artist Kamiel Verschuren on art projects in public space. Lauran Schijvens is co-founder together with Simon Davies of 'Studio LSD', a Rotterdam based graphic design office. Studio LSD designs mainly within the cultural sector. Design projects such as routing systems, websites, books and printed matter for numerous publishers and institutions.

Lauran Schijvens developed the Bar Code Interpreter at V2_ in 2001, which was then presented by Droog Design in the show 010101 Art in Technological Times at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

The Bar Code Interpreter (2001), developed by V2_lab allows other (electrical) devices to respond directly to any bar codes.

The Bar Code Interpreter is an interface which consists of software and hardware. The software runs under Linux and is written in C. The hardware consists of a bar code scanner, a PC, a custom built interface and a relay switch box.
