Loretta Napoleoni is an economist, journalist and author; she published the bestsellers Terror Incorporated (2005),  Insurgent Iraq (2005) and Rogue Economics (2008), a book on the economics of terrorism.

Napoleoni, as economist, has worked for a number of international organizations including the IMF, the UN and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. As a journalist, she has worked as foreign correspondent for several Italian newspapers and is a regular columnist in the European press. As such, she has conducted numerous interviews with former members of the Red Brigades and other Italian and South American terrorist organizations as well as members of Islamist armed groups.

Napoleoni advises several governments on counter-terrorism. She is Chairman of the countering terrorism financing group Club de Madrid.

She published The New Economy of Terror in V2_'s 2004 Feelings Are Always Local.
