Marie-Jeanne Musiol experienced the limits of photographic representation while working in Auschwitz in the 1990’s. After experiencing such a charged site she began exploring means to directly record the luminous imprints of electromagnetic fields around biological bodies.

Representative is the video Bodies of Light. Fields of Light. States (2000) which registers various aspects of electromagnetic fields around plants. The book Bodies of Light (2001) presents recordings of energy emissions around biological bodies and has won numerous design awards.

Marie-Jeanne Musiol makes photographic installations, and videos, that have been exhibited in galleries and museums in Canada and internationally; Musiol's works are part of several major museum collections. She also produced a number of limited edition books.
