Martin Spanjaard is an artist and designer who has a degree in audiovisual design from the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Prior to his education he studied physics and electronic music. In 1986 he started a project at the University of Amsterdam. For this project he was one of the computer experts who were involved in researching computer systems, where the interaction between the individual and the environment is the most important feature for a multiple reality. As an artist he focused on the realization of the immaterial or the idea to the material and its relation to the environment. In his artworks he tries to develop a depiction of openness and freedom.
