Mary Flanagan is an artist who works with emerging technologies to create systems that rethink everyday experience, through writing, art and activist design projects. She created The Adventures of Josie True, the first web-based adventure game for girls, and is implementing innovations in pedagogical and values-based game design.

She holds a degree in Film, and a PhD in Computational Media focusing on activist game design. She teaches at Dartmouth College and her research group and laboratory is called TiltFactor, a lab focused on the design of activists and socially-conscious software.
