Michael Saup studied music at Dominican College, San Rafael, California; computer science in Furtwangen and visual communications at the Academy of Design in Offenbach, teaching video and computer. Saup has also been the artistic research assistent at the Institute for New Media, Städelschule in Frankfurt since 1990. Michael Saup was awarded a distinction by the Prix Ars Electronica jury for his entry Binary Ballistic Ballet in the category Interactive Art and is a professor at the department of new media at the ZKM-HfG Karlsruhe
