Vicente Carretón (ES) is a media arts writer and curator specialized in holography, video and interactive systems.
Vicente Carretón Cano (Spain, 1955) is a media arts writer and curator specialized in holography, video and interactive systems. He has curated holography exhibitions and multimedia art programs for different institutions and festivals in Spain; has worked as assistant curator for the World Wide Video Festival in The Hague (1995, 1996) and Amsterdam (1997); has advised the MILIA market (Cannes, France) for the MILIA d'OR (1995, 1996) and The New Talent Pavillion (1997); as well as Videoarco (Madrid, ARCO 1992, 1993), the II Bienal de la Imagen en Movimiento (Madrid, Reina Sofía, 1992) and Procesos, Cultura y Nuevas Tecnologías (Madrid, Reina Sofía, 1986). He has written widely in newspapers, magazines and catalogs and has lectured at the Art and Technology Foundation in Madrid, The Goethe Institute in Buenos Aires, The Akademie der Künste in Berlin and the Universities of Valencia, Amsterdam and Buenos Aires. He has been recently appointed media arts curator for Malaga's Centro de Arte Mercado de Mayoristas, that will open its doors in Spring 2001 with Out of Limbo: 90's Holo-Hybrids, an exhibition investigating the aesthetic dialogue of holography with other electronic technologies. This Center has the commitment to become a focal point for electronic culture in Southern Europe, establishing a tri-continental network node between the electronic scenes of Europe, Africa and Latin-America.
