KIT: C.O.T.I.S (exterior)

C.O.T.I.S is the name of a fictional cult whose members travel in Freight Containers to the sites of aircraft crashes. They carry on the trajectory of the aircraft into the earth by burying a container. They view a crash site as an ultimate fusion of body, technology and territory. The interior of the orange (the colour of a black box) container is upholstered with digitally printed material and depicts aerial images of crash sites, with white outlines symbolising the wreckage. The padded room is a place of contemplation where original recordings from black boxes can be heard. The container becomes a metaphor for the black box and its revealing contents.
