Steven Jouwersma: Dia-Exit

In our society we are used to record all events of importance on photographs. But what seemed to be a significant moment can have lost its meaning years later. Dia-Exit is an installation which destroys slides.

In exchange for an apple pie a number of amateur-photographers have given Steven Jouwersma their slides-collections of weddings and holidays. This archive of slides is used in his installation Dia-Exit. For one last time the visitors of the exhibition can see the slides before they are pulverized: asking to see the next slide sends the previous slide to a shredder to be destroyed for ever.

The installation was shown at V2_ in 2007.
