The Theater for Hybrid Automata is an automated theater largely consisting of interactive projections and moving video cameras. Through laserdiscs, computer and camera images that are controlled by the audience through speech recognition, a world of synthetic images is constructed.
The Theater for Hybrid Automata consists of an actual and a virtual space. On the one hand there is a space where electronic hardware is situated that can be entered physically, on the other there are the electronically stored images that are projected on screens. It is an interactive space where a robot controls light, sound, cameras and video discs. The communication between machines and between man and machine, through an underlying level of codes, enables the realization of a new ethical structure in which the confrontation between the physical space and its synthetic model is completely composed.

The Theatre for Hybrid Automata is een geautomatiseerd theater dat hoofdzakelijk uit projecties en bewegende videocamera's bestaat die interactief zijn. Via beeldplaten, computer en camerabeelden wordt een wereld van synthetische beelden gecreërd die via spraakherkenning door het publiek gestuurd wordt. The Theatre for Hybrid Automata bestaat uit een actuele en een virtuele ruimte. Enerzijds is er een ruimte die fysiek begaanbaar is en waar electronisch hardware opgesteld staat en anderzijds zijn er de electronisch opgeslagen beelden die vis projecties op schermen zichtbaar worden gemaakt. Het is een interactieve ruimte waarin een robot met videocamera videodiscs, licht en geluid stuurt . De communicatie tussen machines onderling en tussen mens en machine, via een onderliggend systeem van codes, maakt het mogelijk om in dit werk tot een nieuwe esthetische structuur te komen waarin de confrontatie tussen de fysieke ruimte en haar synthetische model volledig gecomponeerd is.
