On 1 November 2003, in Yamaguchi, Japan, the new centre for art and media YCAM opened its doors. For this occasion, Canadian-Mexican artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer developed the spectacular interactive installation Amodal Suspension.

In the sky above the new centre huge search lights projected a choreography of light that was visible even at a distance of ten miles. The choreography for the lights was controlled by SMS messages and e-mails that people sent to each other from all over the world via the website http://www.amodal.net/. The messages from the website were also projected on the building's facade.

At thirteen designated locations all over the world, so-called "Access Pods" were placed. Visitors sending messages via these "Pods" had better access than other users and their messages were displayed in the installation without delay.
The results could be watched at the "Pod" location on a large screen. The opening message was sent on 1 November, 1 PM Dutch time, by the astronauts in the International Space Station.

One of these "Access Pods" was situated in the V2_Store.

Amodal Suspension was produced with V2_.
