The DEAF_00 film program featured experimental work around such themes as time travel machines, futuristic views, parallel dimensions and art concerning time. The opening film was shown on Thursday 16 November: the Russian silent film THE MAN WITH THE MOVIE CAMERA was accompanied live on this occasion by Yvo Verschoor on the piano, with music by Shostakovitsj. Marc Westermann, lecturer in film skills at the Catholic University of Brabant, gave an introduction. Another Soviet classic on the programme was AELITA. Also, a number of films was shown that linked up with the DEAF_theme Machine Times, such as THE MATRIX, 12 MONKEYS and SOLARIS.
