Under Fire is a project by visual artist and media theorist Jordan Crandall which explores the organization and representation of contemporary armed conflict. This conference was part of a series of discussions involving individuals working in politics, theory, criticism, the arts, and journalism, from both the West and the Middle East. Participants included Jordan Crandall, art critic/activist Brian Holmes, academicians Asef Bayat, Susan Buck-Morss, Hamid Dabashi, and Gema Martín Muñoz.

Organized in collaboration by Witte de With and V2_ this symposium focused on the issues debated in the Under Fire mailing list in the period January – April, 2004.
