Opening Dune 4.2 by Daan Roosegaarde
Media artist Daan Roosegaarde, who is currently working with V2_ Lab on the wearable technology project "Intimacy," will present his installation "Dune 4.2" on October 29 2009 in the Rotterdam neighborhood of De Esch.

Since the initial prototype, Studio Roosegaarde has spent more than four years working on this electronic artwork, consisting of hundreds of flexible stalks tipped with LED bulbs. The stalks undulate like electronic dune grass and light up when someone walks past. Dune 4.2 has previously been installed at temporary locations including the Maastunnel and has now been given a permanent home in De Esch.
Along with the opening of the permanent installation in Rotterdam, it was announced on October 17 2009 that Daan Roosegaarde had won the Dutch Design Award in the spatial design category for his work Flow 5.0.
The V2_Lab congratulates Daan Roosegaarde and the studio staff on this fantastic news and hopes that the Intimacy project will similarly fulfill the great expectations harbored for it. It is expected that the first designs for this remarkable wearable technology project will be presented at the December 10 Test_Lab.
